Did you know your membership in the Knights of Columbus entitles you to a whole host of member benefits?
Some you already know about, like your subscription to Columbia magazine. But there are also several unique financial benefits included with your membership at no additional cost. Those additional benefits have just increased. The monthly stipend for orphans has increased by over 600%!
These enhancements help us stay true to Blessed Michael McGivney’s vision to help protect Catholic families financially. Expanded benefits for all members include:
- Member/Spouse Fraternal Benefit
- Accidental death benefit for members in good standing and their spouse. The benefit amount varies from $1,500-5,000, depending on the member’s age, whether he was insured and how long he had been a member of the Knights of Columbus.
As an insured member, you know the importance of protecting your family. We’re proud to continue our partnership with you as we increase three benefits that are provided at no additional cost to members with a qualifying insurance policy:
- Family Fraternal Benefit
- Guaranteed-issue insurance up to $10,000 to any child under age 18, regardless of physical or intellectual disabilities.
- Automatic $5,000 death benefit for children who die before age 61 days, including stillbirths from at least 20 weeks after conception.*
- Orphan Fraternal Benefit
- $500 monthly allotment to an insured member’s child who has lost both parents, up to age 19.
- Up to $5,000 per year in college scholarships (maximum total $20,000), per eligible orphan.
- Widow Benefit
- Coverage under the Member/Spouse Fraternal Benefit (see above).
- Surviving spouses of insured Knights of Columbus may purchase life insurance, long-term care insurance, disability income insurance or annuities, and she and her children are eligible for scholarships.
Again, these benefits are included in your membership and, where noted, your status as an insured member. The entire list of fraternal benefits may be found here.
As always, please contact your agent with any questions about your fraternal benefits or for further details about how the updated benefits differ from previous versions.
Fraternally,
Knights of Columbus
